The Diocese of Bridgeport is committed to providing care for residents of three nursing homes formerly owned and operated by the Diocese. The Lourdes Fund was established to ensure the continuation of pastoral care and ministry in these homes.
Amenities include Mass and communion services in onsite chapels, as well as upkeep of said chapels. Religious sisters and Priests are on staff at these nursing homes and provide sacramental and pastoral visits and more.
Grants from the Lourdes Fund for Pastoral Care at Catholic Nursing Homes will benefit three nursing homes within the Diocese: St. Camillus Center in Stamford, St. John Paul II Center in Danbury, and St. Joseph Center in Trumbull.
About Our Namesake
Lourdes, France is the site of several Marian apparitions. It is now one of the most visited Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world.
Most notable at the site is the spring of water in the Grotto of Massabiele, where St. Bernadette of Lourdes saw her first Marian apparition. Through taps, many pilgrims either drink or bathe in the water due to its purported healing properties.
